A1Difficulty 2/5

Outside a built-up area, may a motorcycle normally park occupying the usable part of a conventional road’s shoulder?

Correct answer

No; it must leave the usable shoulder clear.

No. On interurban roads, stopping or parking must be off the carriageway, on its right, leaving the usable shoulder clear. Necessary emergency immobilisation is a different case, governed by its safety rules. It is not permission to park there voluntarily or an identical rule for every urban road.
