A2Difficulty 3/5

You ride a motorcycle whose ITV technical inspection card certifies that it has a self-protection structure and is equipped with a seat belt. Which of the following safety items must you use?

Correct answer

The seat belt.

You must use the seat belt. Article 118 of the General Traffic Regulations establishes this exception when the self-protection structure and seat belt are recorded on the ITV card or corresponding certificate: occupants are exempt from the helmet, glove and footwear requirements in that paragraph, but must use the seat belt. A motorcycle merely appearing to have a protective structure is insufficient.
