All AM licence questions · DGT question bank

To carry an adult passenger on a two-wheeled moped authorised for this purpose, what is the minimum age of a rider holding a valid AM licence?

Correct answer

15 years.

15 years, the minimum age for obtaining AM. Merely carrying an adult passenger does not require the rider to be 18. The moped must be authorised for a passenger, who must use the passenger seat behind the rider, sit astride, place feet on the footrests and wear the required helmet. The exception allowing a child over seven requires the rider to be a parent or guardian, or an adult authorised by them; it does not apply to every 15-year-old rider.
