What is the purpose of the bleeder in a hydraulic braking circuit?

Correct answer

Remove air that may be present in the circuit.

It allows air that has entered the hydraulic circuit to be removed. Compressible air bubbles impair pressure transmission and braking effectiveness. It is neither a maximum-pressure regulator nor the reservoir filling point. This differs from draining condensation from the air reservoirs of a pneumatic system. Bleeding must follow the manufacturer’s procedure; there is no universal interval or guarantee that bleeding alone resolves every fault.
