D1 authorises vehicles designed for no more than 16 passengers in addition to the driver, with a maximum length of 8 metres. They may tow a trailer with MAM no more than 750 kg. Seat count alone is insufficient: length and the licence’s other conditions also apply. Category D is not limited to vehicles with more than 17 seats.
