You voluntarily immobilise the vehicle for less than two minutes without leaving it, for a reason unrelated to traffic, an emergency or a legal requirement. What is this called?

Correct answer

A voluntary stop (parada).

A voluntary stop (parada). Annex I of the Traffic Law requires a duration below two minutes and that the driver does not leave the vehicle. Parking is any immobilisation that is neither a traffic-required halt nor a voluntary stop: it may last less than two minutes if the driver leaves, and also applies at two minutes even if the driver remains. A traffic-required halt (detención) arises from an emergency, traffic or a legal requirement; it is not the voluntary immobilisation described.
