At the sign shown, while not carrying out an overtaking manoeuvre, what signposted gap must you keep from the vehicle ahead?

Correct answer

A minimum gap of 70 metres.

At least 70 metres. R-300 prohibits driving without a gap at least equal to the stated distance, except to overtake. It does not specify a maximum gap. Article 54.1 still requires the gap needed to avoid collision: keep more distance if speed, grip or other circumstances require it. The overtaking exception does not permit following so closely that you cannot stop without a collision.
