At each lateral extremity, facing forward with a white light and white reflector, and facing rearward with a red light and red reflector. A reflective panel without the required lights is insufficient. This marking rule does not itself authorise exceeding permitted dimensions. The 0.40 m distance is measured from the outer edge of the position light, not simply from the side of the bodywork.
