Correct answer
On level ground with the motorcycle upright
On firm, level ground, with the motorcycle stable and upright as specified in its manual. Tilting it can change the level reading. Engine temperature, waiting time after stopping and use of the sight glass or dipstick depend on the manufacturer; there is no universal rule to check it always cold or with the engine running. Follow the model’s procedure and keep the level between the specified marks.
