You must use the seat belt. Article 118 of the General Traffic Regulations establishes this exception when the self-protection structure and seat belt are recorded on the ITV card or corresponding certificate: occupants are exempt from the helmet, glove and footwear requirements in that paragraph, but must use the seat belt. A motorcycle merely appearing to have a protective structure is insufficient.
