What it means
The S-26a sign is an approach panel to an exit at three hundred metres. It informs of the approximate distance remaining to an exit, allowing you to prepare lane choice, signalling, and reading later destinations in time. It usually appears on motorways, dual carriageways, or roads with channelled exits, before the point where the exit lane separates. When you see it, do not change suddenly: check mirrors, position yourself progressively, and keep distance. In the test they often ask about its approach function and the distance indicated, not an immediate obligation to leave.
