What it means
The S-3 sign indicates a road reserved for motor vehicles. It informs that you are entering a stretch intended for that type of vehicle, with specific access and use regulation according to the applicable signing. It should not be interpreted as a motorway or dual carriageway if the sign does not say so, or as permission to ignore later limits, lanes, or restrictions. It usually appears at the beginning of roads or accesses where users incompatible with that reservation are excluded. When you see it, check that your vehicle may travel on the road and adapt your driving to the environment. In the test they often ask about the specific reservation and distinguish it from motorway, dual carriageway, and a road for all vehicles.
