What it means
The S-30 sign indicates a 30 zone. It informs of entry into an area where traffic is organised with that speed reference and with an environment usually more sensitive to pedestrians, crossings, accesses, and coexistence among users. You should not interpret the zone as a single street: the indication may cover several roads until signing marks its end or changes the regulation. It usually appears in residential areas, town centres, or traffic-calmed environments. When you see it, adapt driving to a low pace, watch the edges, and read supplementary panels. In the test they often ask that it affects a zone, not only the exact point of the sign.
