What it means
The S-800 sign indicates the distance to the beginning of the danger or prescription. It is a supplementary panel specifying how far away the situation announced by the main sign begins, whether a warning, prohibition, obligation, or other regulation. It should not be read in isolation, because its meaning always depends on the sign it accompanies. It is usually placed below signs when the point of application is not immediate. When you see it, adapt your driving in advance and prepare the response for when the indicated stretch begins. In the test they often ask that the panel measures distance, not the total length of the stretch.
