What it means
The S-4 sign indicates the end of a road reserved for motor vehicles. From that point, the specific reservation for motor vehicles ends, and traffic is governed by the category and signing of the road that continues. It does not by itself create a new prohibition or authorise you to ignore later limits, priorities, or restrictions. It is usually placed when leaving this type of road toward conventional roads, urban stretches, links, or accesses with another layout. When you see it, adapt your driving to the possible presence of different users and read the following signs. In the test they often ask which reservation ends, not what speed becomes allowed.
