Sign S-7: Maximum speed aconsejable

Maximum speed aconsejable
Official Spanish DGT catalogue image — S-7

What it means

The S-7 sign indicates an advisable maximum speed. It recommends not exceeding the speed shown on the sign when conditions are normal, but it does not establish a regulatory prohibition like the maximum speed sign. It usually appears before curves, descents, accesses, roadworks, delicate surfaces, or stretches where guiding the driver toward a prudent speed is useful. When you see it, adapt your speed to the advice and to the real situation, without forgetting that other mandatory signs may impose different limits. In the test it is often distinguished from R-301: here a speed is advised, not set as a mandatory maximum.
