What it means
The P-30 sign warns of a side step. It indicates a level difference next to the carriageway or at its edge, so leaving the lane partially may affect vehicle control and make safe re-entry difficult. It usually appears on stretches with lowered shoulders, discontinuous edges, roadworks, or level differences between the trafficable area and the verge. When you see it, keep a centred path, avoid entering the edge, and correct smoothly if you get too close. In the test they often check that you identify the side risk and do not confuse it with a dip or uneven surface.
