What it means
The P-1 sign warns of an intersection where the road you are travelling on has priority. It does not allow you to enter without checking: you must stay alert, adapt your speed, and make sure other road users respect the priority, especially if someone approaches uncertainly. It usually appears before junctions where the main road keeps priority over side roads. When you see it, continue ready to react, without confusing priority with the absence of danger. In the theory test it is often contrasted with give-way signs or intersections without priority, checking that you know who has priority.
