What it means
The S-12 sign indicates a stretch of one-way carriageway. It informs that, during the signed stretch, traffic on that carriageway travels in only one direction, although there may be specific signing for lanes, turns, parking, or accesses. It usually appears at the beginning of or within streets, slip roads, and carriageways where it is useful to remind drivers that oncoming traffic should not be expected on that same carriageway. When you see it, adapt your position to the permitted direction and avoid manoeuvres against the indicated direction. In the test they often distinguish a one-way stretch from an obligation to follow a specific direction.
