What it means
The S-31 sign indicates the end of a 30 zone. From it onward, the zonal regulation associated with that signed speed ends, but you must continue to respect any other limit, sign, marking, or general condition applying to the road. It is usually placed when leaving neighbourhoods, calmed streets, or urban areas where a reduced-speed zone had been established. When you see it, adapt your speed to the new stretch only after checking the surroundings, pedestrian presence, and later signs. In the test they often ask whether it always allows you to increase speed; the key is that the zone ends, not prudence.
