Official Spanish DGT catalogue image — S-53C

What it means

The S-53c sign informs of a change from two to three traffic lanes with the maximum speed specified for each one. It announces a new lane layout and assigns a signed speed to each lane, so you must read the whole sign before changing position. It is usually placed before stretches where the carriageway widens and traffic is distributed according to the permitted pace. When you see it, keep your path until you can choose a lane safely, respect the corresponding speed, and signal any movement. In the test they often ask both about the increase in lanes and the speed applying to each one.
