What it means
The S-550 sign indicates the location of an autonomous community boundary. It serves to locate the point where the itinerary enters or leaves an autonomous community, providing a territorial and administrative reference for the driver. It does not by itself change traffic rules, priority, speed limit, or road type. It is usually placed at the boundary itself on roads and interurban accesses. When you see it, interpret it as location information and remain attentive to later signs, which will specify any condition of the stretch. In the test they often ask that it marks a territorial boundary, not a border with automatic different regulation.
