Sign S-8: Fin of maximum speed aconsejada

Fin of maximum speed aconsejada
Official Spanish DGT catalogue image — S-8

What it means

The S-8 sign indicates the end of the advised maximum speed. From that point, the previous recommendation no longer applies, but mandatory limits, road conditions, and the prudence required by traffic, visibility, or surface condition still apply. It is not equivalent to a mandatory maximum speed sign or permission to accelerate without control. It usually appears at the end of a stretch where not exceeding a certain speed was recommended because of curves, roadworks, surface, or similar circumstances. In the test they often distinguish advice from obligation: an advised speed ends, not a regulatory limit.
