Sign P-28: Proyeccion of gravilla

Proyeccion of gravilla
Official Spanish DGT catalogue image — P-28

What it means

The P-28 sign warns of loose chippings being projected. It means the surface may have loose stones or other small materials that can be thrown up by passing vehicles, affect visibility, damage windows, or reduce grip. It usually appears on recently treated stretches, roadworks, roads with damaged surface, or areas where loose material accumulates on the carriageway. When you see it, slow down smoothly, increase distance from the vehicle ahead, and avoid sudden changes of direction or speed. In the test they often distinguish it from slippery pavement and uneven pavement, focusing on the projected gravel.
