Sign P-29: Viento transversal

Viento transversal
Official Spanish DGT catalogue image — P-29

What it means

The P-29 sign warns of crosswind. It indicates that side gusts may push the vehicle or affect motorcycles, bicycles, tall vehicles, trailers, and overtaking more strongly, so you must hold the steering firmly and increase caution. It usually appears on bridges, viaducts, tunnel exits, open areas, mountain passes, or exposed stretches. When you see it, slow if necessary, increase lateral distance, and avoid sudden manoeuvres, especially when meeting or overtaking. In the test they often ask about preventive behaviour, and you should not confuse it with a merely informative weather sign.
