What it means
The R-301 sign sets a maximum speed. It prohibits travelling at a speed higher than the one indicated while the limitation is in force, and you must not infer different figures from the road type if the specific sign orders otherwise. It usually appears before or within stretches where speed is to be regulated because of layout, surroundings, accesses, roadworks, traffic, or coexistence with other users. When you see it, adapt your speed smoothly and keep the limit until another sign or rule modifies it. In the test it is often distinguished from advised speed, minimum speed, and end of limitation.
