What it means
The R-106 sign prohibits entry to vehicles intended for carrying goods. It applies to vehicles whose function is carrying load, although you must not infer from the sign any specific weight, size, or type of goods unless another panel states it. It is usually placed at accesses to town centres, narrow streets, residential areas, or routes where goods traffic is diverted. When you see it, if you drive an affected vehicle you must choose a permitted route before entering. In the test they often check that you do not confuse it with prohibitions based on mass, length, or dangerous goods.
