What it means
The R-412 sign indicates snow chains. It requires travelling with chains or another admitted anti-skid device when the sign applies, because the conditions of the stretch require improved grip. It usually appears on mountain passes, mountain roads, accesses affected by snow, or points where winter traffic is controlled. When you see it, if your vehicle cannot comply with the obligation you must stop in a safe place or follow a permitted route, without entering the stretch trusting that conditions will improve. In the test it is often distinguished from a warning of ice or snow: here there is a specific equipment obligation.
