What it means
The R-400c sign indicates a mandatory direction. It requires you to follow the direction marked by the arrow or by the sign configuration, so you cannot choose another movement even if it physically seems possible. It is usually placed at intersections, islands, roadworks, accesses, channelled lanes, or points where traffic must be organised toward a specific direction. When you see it, position yourself in advance, signal if appropriate, and avoid last-minute corrections that could cut across other users. In the test it is often distinguished from an information direction sign: this is an obligation, not simple guidance.
