What it means
The R-400e sign indicates a mandatory direction. It requires you to follow the direction shown by the arrow or by the orientation of the sign, without choosing another route at that point even if it seems physically possible. It is usually placed on islands, diversions, accesses, roundabouts, roadworks, or points where traffic needs a specific path to avoid conflicts. When you see it, adapt your position in advance and follow the imposed direction without entering reserved areas or directions that are not allowed. In the test they often treat it as a mandatory sign, not information, and ask whether it allows a choice between several paths when it orders only one.
