Sign R-400A: A mandatory direction

A mandatory direction
Official Spanish DGT catalogue image — R-400A

What it means

The R-400a sign indicates a mandatory direction. It requires you to follow the direction shown by the arrow on the sign at the point where it is placed, without choosing another path even if it seems physically possible. It usually appears on islands, roadworks, accesses, diversions, roundabout entries, or points where traffic must be channelled to avoid conflicts. When you see it, position yourself in advance and follow the imposed direction, without entering excluded areas or making incompatible turns. In the test they usually treat it as a mandatory sign and check that you do not confuse it with a route recommendation or a direction panel.
