What it means
The R-204 sign sets a width limitation. It prohibits passage by vehicles whose width exceeds the value shown on the sign, so the driver must know the real dimensions of the vehicle and of any load if it projects. It usually appears before tunnels, narrow passages, bridges, narrow streets, roadworks, or accesses with side obstacles. When you see it, check whether you can continue safely and, if you do not comply with the limit, use an alternative route before becoming stuck. In the test they often check that you understand it limits width, not height, mass, or length.
