What it means

The R-5 sign indicates priority for the opposite direction. At a narrow passage or stretch where two traffic streams cannot comfortably pass each other, it requires you to give way to vehicles coming from ahead, because priority belongs to the opposite direction. It usually appears before bridges, roadworks, narrowings, or passages regulated by alternating priority.
