What it means
The R-404 sign indicates a carriageway for motor vehicles except motorcycles. It reserves or orders the use of that carriageway for the included motor vehicles, excluding motorcycles according to the exception expressed by the sign itself. It usually appears at accesses, links, or forks where routes are separated by vehicle type to organise traffic. When you see it, if you drive an affected vehicle you must follow the signed carriageway when required, and if you ride a motorcycle you must not interpret that the reservation includes you. In the test they often focus on the exception, because it is not enough to answer that it is a carriageway for all motor vehicles.
