What it means
The R-400d sign indicates mandatory direction. It requires you to follow the direction shown by the arrow or the sign layout, so you may not choose a different path at that point if you are affected by it. It usually appears at islands, roadworks, diversions, channelled accesses, medians, or points where traffic must pass on a specific side. When you see it, position yourself in time, respect the indicated direction, and avoid correcting late if your destination lies on another route. In the test they often check that a blue mandatory sign orders a movement, not merely informs of a possible direction.
