What it means
The R-305 sign prohibits overtaking. It means you must not start or carry out an overtaking manoeuvre on the affected stretch when the prohibition applies to you, even if the carriageway seems wide enough or no oncoming traffic is present. It is usually placed before curves, changes of grade, intersections, narrowings, or stretches where overtaking would create risk because of visibility or coexistence. When you see it, keep your position, maintain distance, and wait until the prohibition ends or you find a permitted place. In the test they often distinguish it from the end of prohibition and road markings, remembering that the sign regulates the stretch.
