What it means

The S-51 sign indicates a lane reserved for buses. It informs that a lane is intended for bus circulation, under the conditions established by markings, panels, or supplementary signs. It does not make the lane a free space for any vehicle, even if it is empty, and it does not remove priority and lane-change rules. It usually appears on urban streets, accesses to interchanges, avenues, or stretches with priority public transport. When you see it, stay out of the lane if you are not an authorised user and pay extra attention when crossing it where allowed. In the test they often ask about the specific reservation and not a simple preference.
