What it means
The S-870 sign indicates the application of signing. It is a supplementary panel specifying to which stretch, lane, direction, user, time, or circumstance the main sign it accompanies applies. Its meaning should not be read in isolation, because it always depends on the upper sign and on the specific text or symbol on the panel. It is usually placed below danger, regulatory, or information signs to define their scope. When you see it, interpret both signs as a whole before deciding. In the test they often check that you understand its supplementary function and do not confuse it with an independent mandatory or prohibition sign.
