What it means
The S-271 sign gives advance notice of a service area. It informs in advance of an area where services for road users may be concentrated, so that you decide whether to exit without improvising. It does not require you to leave the road or guarantee services not indicated on the panel. It is usually placed before service areas, accesses to facilities, or exits where the decision needs margin. When you see it, check whether the area matches your needs, position yourself in the appropriate lane, and signal in time. In the test they often distinguish a service area from a service road and from an isolated station.
