What it means
The S-52b sign informs of the end of a lane intended for traffic. It warns that the indicated lane loses continuity and that vehicles must merge into the lanes that remain open, always in advance and safely. It usually appears before narrowings, roadworks, lane endings, section changes, or entries where one path is no longer available. When you see it, check mirrors, signal if you must move, and make an orderly merge easier without waiting until the last moment. In the test they often ask that the lane ends, not that you necessarily have to stop or that the whole carriageway disappears.
