What it means
The S-52 sign informs of the end of a lane intended for traffic. It warns that one lane loses continuity and that vehicles must merge in advance into the lanes that remain available, without waiting until the last moment. It usually appears before roadworks, narrowings, section changes, lane endings, or areas where the carriageway is reorganised. When you see it, check mirrors, signal the movement if you need it, and facilitate orderly merging by other users. In the test they often check that you understand a lane ends, not that there is an automatic obligation to stop.
