What it means
The S-853 sign indicates a priority route. It works as a supplementary panel showing how the priority road continues when the priority layout is not obvious at an intersection or set of accesses. You must interpret it together with the main priority sign, because by itself it does not create a new priority or replace observation. It usually appears at junctions where the priority road turns, diverts, or shares space with secondary branches. When you see it, identify whether your path follows the priority route. In the test they often ask you to read the drawing and not confuse it with a mandatory direction.
