What it means
The P-21 sign warns of children. It means you may find minors near the carriageway or crossing, with movements less predictable than those of an adult, so you must reduce uncertainty and be ready to stop. It usually appears near schools, parks, sports areas, residential areas, or places where children are likely to be present. When you see it, moderate speed, watch pavements and side accesses, and avoid sudden manoeuvres that could surprise other users. In the test it is often distinguished from the general pedestrian sign and they ask that it is a danger warning, not an authorised play area.
