What it means
The P-23 sign warns of domestic animals crossing. It means you may find livestock or other animals under human care crossing or near the carriageway, with slow or unpredictable movements, so you must increase attention and be ready to stop. It usually appears on rural roads, farm accesses, drove roads, small through roads, or areas where animals regularly move. When you see it, slow down, watch the edges, and avoid sounding the horn or making sudden manoeuvres that could frighten them. In the test they often distinguish it from the crossing of animals in freedom, which does not imply human control.
