What it means
The P-24 sign warns of animals crossing in freedom. It means loose animals may appear on the carriageway or nearby, without direct control by a person, and their reaction may be unpredictable. It is usually found on rural roads, wooded areas, natural crossings, or stretches near farms and open spaces. When you see it, reduce speed, watch the road edges more carefully, and be ready to brake without swerving if an animal appears. In the test it is often distinguished from signs for domestic animals or livestock, and they ask what preventive behaviour you should adopt.
