Sign P-8: Level crossing sin barreras

Level crossing sin barreras
Official Spanish DGT catalogue image — P-8

What it means

The P-8 sign warns that a level crossing without barriers is nearby. It means the road crosses a railway line at a point without barriers or half-barriers physically separating traffic, so you must increase observation and be ready to stop. It usually appears before the railway crossing so that you arrive with margin, not when you are already on the tracks. When you see it, slow down, look both ways, obey any light or sound signal, and do not enter unless you can leave completely. In the test they often distinguish it from a level crossing with barriers and from approach panels.
