What it means
The R-3 sign indicates a priority carriageway. From that point you travel on a road with priority over certain intersections, but that priority does not remove the obligation to observe, adapt speed, and react to mistakes by other users. It is usually placed at the start or continuation of routes where a stable preference over side accesses is to be indicated. When you see it, drive predictably and pay attention to signs that may modify or end that priority. In the test they often contrast it with end of priority and give-way signs, checking that you identify who must give way.
