What it means
The R-403b sign indicates the only permitted directions and ways. It requires you to choose only among the paths shown on the sign, leaving all other possible manoeuvres at that intersection or decision point prohibited. It usually appears before or within junctions where traffic organisation needs to channel movements to avoid dangerous turns or incompatible directions. When you see it, select the lane corresponding to the permitted direction you will take and rule out any turn not shown. In the test they often check that you understand the word only: it does not provide preferred options, but the only legally permitted ones.
