What it means
The R-403a sign indicates the only permitted directions and senses. It requires you to choose only among the paths represented on the sign, so any turn, continuation, or direction not shown is excluded for affected users. It usually appears before intersections, islands, channelled accesses, or areas where the permitted movement must be clearly organised. When you see it, decide in advance which authorised direction matches your route and signal if you must change path. In the test they often ask you to read all the arrows and distinguish it from a sign that requires one single direction.
