What it means
The S-220 sign gives advance direction information toward a conventional road. It informs in advance of the destinations or routes reached by taking an exit or direction leading to a conventional road, allowing you to choose lane and manoeuvre before the decision point. It is usually placed on approaches to links, intersections, or exits where traffic should be separated according to destination. When you see it, read the names and the type of road indicated, confirm your route, and signal any change in time. In the test they often check that you understand it as advance direction signing, not as an immediate entry or automatic change of priority.
